Social : The Red Deer Thursday 11th March Another venture into the city for this week's social, to another hidden gem of Sheffield. The Red Deer is tucked away within the side streets of Sheffield but offers a great reward once found with a relaxed atmosphere as well as the usual array of beers and ciders. Meet from the usual time of 8.30.

Walk: Low Bradfield to Bamford Saturday 13th March Starting off in the valley bottom at Low Bradfield, we’ll begin by following the Dale Dike before heading up past Sugworth Hall. We then cross Moscar Moor, skirting below the impressive Stanage Edge, before heading over Bamford Moor and descending into the village of Bamford and heading for the pub. The walk will be just over 7 miles (11.5km), with both hilly and flat sections. Meet at the University tram stop at 8.40am or at the Hillsborough Interchange at 8.50am where we will take the bus. We’ll be returning by train and expect to be back in Sheffield just after 4pm. As usual please bring food, water, warm clothes (NO jeans) waterproofs and walking boots, as well as money for the tram/bus/train, membership (£3) if not already a member, and for any food/drink wanted in the pub at the end.

Walk: SUWC Annual Easter Egg Hunt Sunday 14th March This Sunday it’s time for the annual SUWC Easter Egg Hunt! Rather than the usual leader-led walk you’ll be split into teams of 6-7 including a leader (to help with map reading), given a map, a compass and a clue and sent on a hunt for chocolate hidden around the spectacular Burbage Moor area. With springs, streams, Iron Age Hill Forts, rocks and edges (great for climbing) and disused quarries your clues really could be hidden anywhere. The first team to find all their clues and race to the ‘Treasure Chest’ hidden somewhere in the area wins and gets to keep/eat the big prize! This really is a lot of fun and is pretty easy going, with each team’s clues spread out over a 5 mile route. Meet at 9:30 at the entrance to the Bus Interchange, were you’ll be split into your teams. We should be back in Sheffield by 5pm, but there are later buses for those that want to stay in the pub longer. Please bring waterproofs, warm clothes (NO JEANS), water, lunch, walking boots, and money for the bus (£4), membership (£3 if not yet a member) and the pub at the end.

End of Term Meal: Zeugma Thursday 18th March 8pm A Turkish delight for SUWC before everybody heads off for the Easter break. Zeugma's is a well established Turkish restaurant on London Road in Sheffield that offers something different for our end of term meal. The restaurant is distinct not only in serving up Turkish cuisine but also in the fact that it has an open grill; allowing you to watch your food cook before your eyes! It caters for all eating requirements and has a specially developed menu section for vegetarians. For more information the restaurant has a website which can be visited by clicking this link: http://zeugmaiki.com/. Signup Details: There is ONE FINAL opportunity to sign up for this meal, this is at The Red Deer pub social (Thursday 11th March 8.30pm) and there is only 1 space left. Menus will be available at the social to allow you to choose your meal and a £5 deposit per person is required. Unfortunately no one can sign up after this date as the restaurant requires the pre-orders and deposits to be handed in straight after this social
